HYUNDAI VEHICLES IN BARBADOS

Courtesy Garage Limited, also the agents for Nissan and FIAT, have been officially appointed the new representatives for Hyundai motor vehicles in Barbados.

For some time Courtesy Garage had been in negotiations with Hyundai Motor Co. Ltd (HMC), based in Korea, to represent the Hyundai brand in Barbados and a formal agreement was recently concluded , clearing the way for CGL to become the new agents as of October 1/ 2011.

Under the new Distributor Agreement (DA), which has materialised three months earlier than previously anticipated, Courtesy Garage will be the official Hyundai Distributor for the Barbados market and will invest Bds $8m in accomodating, managing and promoting the brand in the initial stages.

Four million dollars ($4m) of this investment will go towards new and diversified inventory , spare parts and technical capacity to better serve new and existing Hyundai customers.

“This truly is a significant development for Courtesy Garage and the automobile industry,” said Senior General Manager Nicholas Mackie , noting it has come at a time of depression in the local economy and the new car market. “We view it as a milestone achievement for our company and a unique opportunity to further establish ourselves as a major player and employer in the industry. However, while it speaks to the long term future of Courtesy Garage, it also speaks to the automobile business in Barbados which is facing severe challenges, ” he said.

Naturally in such a transition, there will be queries and concerns from existing and potential Hyundai customers and CGL has put systems in place to deal with these customers seeking information and clarification.

All parties have been working towards a smooth transfer of the Hyundai franchise from the previous dealer to CGL and customers can be assurred that all will be welcomed and accommodated at the new Hyundai Dealership in Wildey , where their needs will be attended as quickly and efficiently as possible.
